Commonly Asked Questions

After years of experience, we have found that there are some questions that every bride has when they begin to look for a wedding cake. Listed below are some of the most popular ones that we get.

Q. Do your cakes taste as good as they look?
A. You bet! We always get thank you notes commenting on how delicious, moist & flavorful our cakes are. We love to give samples so you can see for yourself!

Q. Which are your most popular flavors?
A. White Cream Cheese/Raspberry Swirl is #1. Chocolate Fudge is #2. Also very popular are our Lemon, Almond, Poppy seed, Carrot, Apple Spice. Our cakes are always made fresh with the very best ingredients.

Q. Can I choose more than one flavor?
A. Yes. You may choose up to 2 flavors.

Q. Why is your fondant better?
A. We take the time and effort to make our own tasty fondant. It is soft and pliable when you cut it. There is never a bitter after-taste (as with other bakeries). We always ice the cake with butter cream before we cover it with a thin layer of fondant. That way you get the beauty of fondant, and the great taste of butter cream.

Q. I have a photo of a cake that I really like. Can you duplicate it for my wedding?
A. Yes! we can duplicate almost any cake that you have a picture of and customize it to your specific taste. If it is from the internet, please forward it to us by email and if it is from a magazine, just bring it to our tasting consultation and we can work out the details then.

Q. Do the prices include the fresh flowers?
A. No. You need to order your flowers through your florist. You get the best price that way, and you are sure the flowers will match.

Q. Are you cakes ever frozen?
A. Our cakes are never frozen. They always are baked fresh with all natural ingredients, and assembled on the day of your event.

Q. What size cake will I need?
A. That depends on how you will be using it. Will it be on display for most of the evening and cut toward the end? Will some of your guest have come and gone before you cut the cake? Usually a 3 tier cake will be enough to serve those who are there toward the end of the evening.

Is the cake serving as dessert after a sit down dinner? In this instance you need to be sure you have a nice sized slice for each guest, which usually requires a larger cake.. "Dessert slices" are larger than a "reception slice" shown on the price & servings chart.

Other points to consider: How big of an impact do you want your cake to make? How large is the area where it will be displayed? Is the cake high on your priority list? Is the cake a grand centerpiece?

Please check the pricing chart for cakes sizes, and number of servings to get a good estimate.

***Please note: Any cake you see can be made in either a larger or smaller version. Don't choose your cake style solely by the size you see in the pictures.

Q. How soon do I need to order my cake?
A. We usually book 2-3 months before your wedding. May, June, July and August fill quickly, so it's best to order as early as you can for these months. A $100 deposit will put you on our calendar. The balance is due 3 weeks before your wedding.

Q. What is a groom's cake & can you make one?
A. A groom's cake is a cake that reflects the personality of the groom and his own personal style. It can be of anything; hobbies, sports team, favorite dessert. Usually given to a groom from a bride or future mother-in-law, it is a fun way to customize your wedding day.

Q. Can I save my top tier for my first anniversary?
A. This is a long held tradition and a decision that you need to make with your groom. We suggest carrot cake as it holds well in the freezer if wrapped properly; however, any cake frozen for a year will not be as delicious as your wedding day. An option is contacting us again just before your first anniversary and we can prepare a replica of your top tier for your special occasion.
